We are pleased to announce the continued support of 199 Western Promenade by the Bishop and the Diocese Board Members.
It was wonderful to meet the families and potential Residents at today's Informational Meeting / Open House. There were many families who were unable to attend January 26th's event. We are planning to accomodate any families who have expressed interest in 199 Western Promenade. Please contact us with your availability to meet for conversation and a tour.
Supported Independent Housing for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
Our wish is to assist you and your family in meeting the needs and wants of your family member who may be an individual with intellectual or physical disabilities. Our plans include handicap accessibility and an elevator to the second floor. Your child or sibling will take joy in life as he is supported by professional staff and management. We are invested in collaborating with you to create an affordable private housing option for your loved one.
The former Bishop's House at 199 Western Promenade is a beautiful three-story Federal-style mansion built in 1902 and owned by the Roman Catholic Church since 1938. It is a prime location (right next door to the George C. West House) that stands proud in Portland's West End neighborhood with views of the Western Prom, Fore River and the White Mountains. Maine Medical Hospital is just down the street and 199 Western Promenade is just a short walk from the Old Port, the heart of Portland's dining and entertainment district as well as historic waterfront. 199 Western Promenade is close to services, bus lines, work, and programs.
